About Us

The Operational Research Society of Turkey (ORST) was founded in 1975 with the aim of contributing to the promotion, dissemination, and application of operations research in our country.

At the first General Assembly meeting held in June 1975 at the Marmara and Scientific and Industrial Research Institute in Gebze, the following board of directors was elected:

Vice President: Ünver Çınar
General Secretary: Muhittin Oral
Treasurer: Kutay Arman
Member: Erkut Yücaoğlu
Member: Ataç Soysal

The main goals and activities of ORST:

• To establish scientific and professional unity among its members,
• To develop operations research in Turkey through the exchange of information,
• To engage in activities that ensure the development of operations research and its contribution to science in general,
• To communicate, exchange information, and collaborate with local and foreign organizations operating in the same and related fields,
• To demonstrate the contribution of operations research to national development and promote the adoption of operations research methods in both public and private sector organizations,
• To organize conferences, seminars, and meetings and to publish periodicals.
